Overview of Your eBay Unread Messages

Your eBay unread messages are stored in your inbox in the My Messages section of your eBay account. The eBay inbox is where you receive secure, relevant messages directly from eBay and other eBay members. Any eBay unread messages in your eBay inbox that have come from eBay systems are genuine and may contain important information which may be time-sensitive. If there are any eBay unread messages in your inbox then you need to read them as soon aspossible. The eBay unread messages will have the unread symbol next to them, once you have read a message it has the read symbol.

Some of the different types of messages that you may have in your eBay unread list from eBay are:

• Ask a Question, Contact eBay Member or Second Chance Offer correspondence from another eBay member
• Customer Support messages
• News about impending events and product updates
• Policy changes and other special notices
• Priority alerts about your account that may require immediate attention
• Seller invoices for listing and final value fees
• Useful information about buying and selling

If you do not read an eBay unread message then you can still delete it from your inbox although this is not recommended as you may be removing an important eBay message. You can choose to meark any eBay unread message as read if you don’t want to read it. In the same way you can change a message that you have read to be flagged as an eBay unread message to remind you to read it again at a later date.

You can file all eBay unread messages to different folders but if you want to be able to see all of your eBay unread messages at a glance then you can select All Unread folders at the top of the My Messages screen. It is a good idea to have this set up on you’re my Summary screen so that you can go directly to your eBay unread messages folder rather than your inbox.

Any eBay unread alerts will contain important information and cannot be deleted while they still show the unread status. All messages, including eBay unread, are kept for up to sixty days. The exact expiration date of a particular eBay unread message will be displayed so that you can see how long you have left to read it before it is deleted automatically by the system. Messages from other eBay members have a shorter expiration date of up to thirty days.
