What Does Your eBay Feedback Mean?

Your eBay feedback is basically your whole identity on eBay and without it, you’re nothing. Many sellers will be extremely careful about accepting bids from buyers with no eBay feedback and similarly, buyers may avoid a seller with no eBay feedback. However, there is something worse than no feedback and that is having a negative eBay feedback. Your eBay feedback is literally worth as much as every sale you make and it can mean the difference between being successful on eBay and not.

If you are a buyer, then buying from a seller with a low rating can make you feel a little nervous and insecure because they have not got a good eBay feedback rating but buying from a PowerSeller who has positive eBay feedback in the thousands can almost feel like buying from a shop.

A bad eBay feedback will lose you a lot of sales and if someone leaves you negative feedback it goes right at the top of your user page and it will be the first piece of feedback that people see. The eBay feedback is listed in date order with the most recent item first. If a buyer is looking to bid on an item they will almost always check the eBay feedback for that seller and if they see a negative feedback at the top of the list then they are probably not going to bother reading any further down and will simply go to another seller for the item.

The only way to push any negative eBay feedback down your feedback list is to sell a number of items quickly and to make sure that you get positive feedback for them. However, if you let the amount of positive eBay feedback that you have received drop below 90% then chances are that very few buyers will choose to purchase anything from you.

eBay feedback for sellers is almost certainly more important than it is for buyers. It is not an easy process for a seller to build his business back up again if he has received a few pieces of negative feedback. In reality, buyers can leave negative feedback for a variety of reasons whereas a seller has very few options to leave a negative feedback for a buyer apart from late or non-existent payment.

If you are worried that you may be unable to complete a transaction in a timely fashion or a problem has arisen since the auction ended then it is important that you contact the other eBay member and explain the situation before they decide to leave a negative eBay feedback.
